The Lithuanian furniture and wood processing industry has long-standing traditions in producing high quality products. The industry is well-developed - modern production facilities are utilized, the workforce is highly skilled and the operating costs are relatively low. Lithuania is the fifth biggest IKEA supplier in the world.

The Lithuanian furniture manufacturers produce a wide range of quality products. The bulk of the sector's production is exported - mostly to Scandinavian countries, Germany and UK. In 2012 the Lithuanian furniture exports grew by 18.8 percent y-o-y and amounted to EUR 642.3 million.

  • Nearly 19,000 employees - which is about 2.3 percent of the overall labor force

The Lithuanian wood and wood-processing industry is also highly export-oriented. In 2010 the export grew by 38 percent and reached EUR 397 million. The main export market of the industry is Germany, followed by Norway and Denmark.
