Metal Processing
Metal processing is a highly competitive and rapidly growing sector in Lithuania, a country with long-standing traditions in engineering. Many of the Lithuanian companies within the sector have successfully integrated into international markets over the past decade.
The success of the Lithuanian metal processing industry has been mostly driven by its flexibility and ability to supply specific customized products to large foreign and local clients, as well as by the active modernization of production processes. Lithuanian metal processing and transport equipment companies supply various transport components to major international companies, such as Rolls-Royce, Siemens, Volkswagen, Volvo, SAAB, Renault, Yazaki, as well as to the NATO.
About 9,400 people are engaged in the metal processing and machinery industry. Thanks primarily to the successful development of export activities, the industry has returned to the path of growth.
Some of the largest locally-branded companies include Mechel Nemunas, Astra, Alga, Stevila, Vienybė and Aurida, while the most prominent foreign-capital companies operating within the sector are Schmitz CargoBull, CIE Automotive, Stansefabriken, Hi Steel and ADAX.
