Textile & Clothing
Lithuania’s textile and clothing industry, maintaining its centuries-old traditions, today is actively investing in creating unique brands and contemporary design, in effort to develop products with higher added value. Lithuanian producers successfully cooperate with well-known European companies such as Marzotto, Laura Ashley, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Adidas, etc.
The country’s textiles and apparel articles are exported not only to most European and CIS countries, but also North America and Asia. The main trade partners are Italy, France, UK, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. About 84% of the Lithuanian textile exports go to EU countries. Textile exports – mostly linen fabrics and linen home textile – make nearly 40% of the total Lithuanian exports to Japan.
A good example of the Lithuanian textile industry success is the production of quality protective clothing for military, police and civil applications, following the demanding NATO and other standards, as well as the production of modern bullet-proof garments.
Some of the leading companies that successfully operate in Lithuania are HUGO BOSS, Utenos trikotažas, Audimas and Adidas.
Lithuanian Textile Institute has a test laboratory that is accredited (according to the LST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard) to carry out over 60 physical and chemical tests, used to determine the qualitative, hygiene and environmental parameters of textile materials being developed. The services of the advanced laboratory are used by both local and foreign companies.
